A New Era of Homegrown Innovation! CYG SUNRI Supports Commissioning of China’s First 500 kV New-Generation High-Reliability Substation with Fully Self-Reliant and Controllable Systems

Recently, CYG SUNRI supported the successful commissioning of Xiquan (Tieling) Substation in Liaoning, China’s first 500 kV new-generation high-reliability substation with fully self-reliant and controllable systems, under State Grid Corporation of China. This marks a major breakthrough in achieving self-reliance and control over key technologies and equipment for China’s EHV power grids, and demonstrates CYG SUNRI’s core strength and responsibility in advancing intrinsic safety and self-reliant controllability of power systems.

As a sci-tech demonstration project and original technology source of State Grid Corporation of China, Xiquan (Tieling) Substation has adopted 16 innovative self-reliant and controllable new technologies, realizing for the first time the full-chain domestic development and manufacturing of core materials, key chips, operating systems, databases and even technical standard systems for electrical and protection equipment. Upon completion and operation, the project can support the integration of over 2,000 MW of new energy, with an annual increase of over 3 billion kWh in clean energy accommodation.

As the monitoring system integrator of Xiquan Substation, the CYG SUNRI project team conducted systematic technical verification and testing through real-scenario dynamic simulation tests to verify the reliability of self-reliant and controllable technologies, effectively proving their feasibility and ensuring the smooth commissioning of the substation.

// Integration & Coordination among Multiple Parties

CYG SUNRI led the coordination of 13 equipment manufacturers and built a test environment in line with the new-generation secondary system architecture featuring acquisition, transmission, control and the “Platform + APP” model, laying a solid foundation for subsequent dynamic simulation tests.

// Simulation Construction & Panoramic Verification

The project team adopted self-reliant and controllable communication protocols and successfully connected 341 devices including monitoring and protection equipment, establishing a highly realistic dynamic simulation test platform that fully simulates actual operating scenarios and verifies overall system performance.

// Technical Verification & Performance Improvement

CYG SUNRI provided strong technical support for the demonstration application of Xiquan Substation. Based on coordinated professional requirements, the company optimized function configuration, integrated equipment, simplified network architecture, strengthened cybersecurity authentication, and implemented main and auxiliary integrated monitoring. These efforts have realized full self-reliant controllability, security, reliability, advancement, applicability and high efficiency for the substation’s secondary system, leading industrial innovation and demonstration.
