1 About Hou Lin


Hou Lin, a member of the Communist Party of China, graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a master's degree in 2000. After graduation, he joined CYG SUNRI CO., LTD. (formerly Shenzhen Nari Technology Co., Ltd.), and served as an engineer of the Development Department, head of the System Group, Deputy Director of the R&D Center, Director of the Quality Control Center of SUNRI, Deputy Chief Engineer/Technical Director of SUNRI, and Deputy General Manager of SUNRI successively, and now he serves as Executive Deputy General Manager of SUNRI and Assistant to the President of Changyuan Technology Group (CYG).


After joining the company, Hou Lin had been engaged in the development and application of substation monitoring systems and master station/centralized control software systems for a long time, and committed to the research and promotion of power system automation technology, communication integration technology, information system integration and Internet+ related technologies. He took charge of and participated in many major scientific research projects, the research results of which have been widely used in the industry. He won Guangdong Excellent New Product Award and Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Award, and was granted a number of invention patents. In 2013, he was recognized as a reserve talent in Shenzhen's high-level professional talent level certification. Moreover, Hou Lin serves as a member of the Distribution Network Working Group of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Power System Management and Information Exchange and a member of the EPTC Power Information and Communication Expert Working Committee.

Key Person in the Context of Pursuing the Goal of Carbon Neutrality: Create a Model Green Smart Park


In the context of pursuing the goals of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality, the transformation of energy systems is very important. Effectively combining the goals of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality with the energy utilization industry, taking industrial parks as the application scenario and the energy and transportation industries as the main carriers, Mr. Hou led the Industry Business Division to carry out research on low-carbon construction scheme of smart parks. According to Mr. Hou's instructions, the team conducted in-depth analysis on high energy-consuming enterprises, industrial parks, commercial complexes and public buildings. It tried to identify the difficulties and pain points of energy consumption and management, explored possible combinations of low carbon and smart applications, and developed a carbon neutrality solution for smart parks with "one platform (the carbon neutrality management platform for smart parks) + four types of services (services for clean energy construction, energy saving and consumption reduction, green building construction, and carbon trading)". Once the solution was adopted, Mr. Hou immediately launched a pilot green smart park construction program in SUNRI’s HQ park in Shenzhen, which then became the first low-carbon smart park in China and provides great technical support and reference for the construction of future green smart parks.


Moreover, Mr. Hou actively coordinated the cooperation with governments, institutions of higher learning, and power grid companies to practice and share the research results of carbon neutrality and smart applications of parks. His team built the first city-level smart parking operation platform with the management function of "parking + charging” in Zhumadian City; practiced zero-carbon campus construction by using multi-energy complementation microgrids and energy consumption monitoring systems in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and developed a simulation training system for teaching. They also participated in a key project of National Natural Science Foundation of China - the theory and technology of large-scale fault monitoring and self-healing regulation of smart grids, which has been maturely applied in smart parks, incremental distribution networks, port power supply and distribution, etc., improved the reliability and flexibility of power supply of specific power supply and distribution systems, and laid a solid foundation for low carbonization and smart functions of future parks.


Follow the new normal to adapt to new integrated energy business, and integrate multiple technologies to build smart energy demonstration projects


In the new context of integrated energy services, Mr. Hou knows well that the company should actively adapts to the new requirements of energy supply reform and electric power system reform, combine technologies such as Internet, big data and cloud computing, as well as regional microgrid technologies of clean energy and renewable energy to expand its layout of engineering services, investment services and operational services, and vigorously develop and have extensive practice in distributed photovoltaic projects, microgrid projects, PV power generation, energy storage and charging projects, and multi-energy complementation projects, etc. After getting to know that the Shenzhen Qianhai Shekuo Free Trade Zone Power Supply Co., Ltd. (“Qianhai Power Supply”) planed to build the first “Internet+" energy demonstration project characterized by low carbon, safe and efficient operation, and smart management, Mr. Hou quickly organized those who are the most capable and pooled superior resources to bid for the project. Finally, SUNRI successfully won the bid of the smart energy demonstration project owned by China Merchants (Shenzhen) Power Supply Co., Ltd. In the critical period of COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control in 2020, in order to ensure the safe, orderly and timely operation of the project, Mr. Hou adopted the online + offline mode to make full use of every minute. In May 2020, the “Internet+" smart energy demonstration project of Qianhai Power Supply was officially put into operation as scheduled. In the smart energy project “Anhui Jidian Comprehensive Office Building” directed by Mr. Hou, with the guiding principle of "resources, intelligence, advancement, high efficiency and economical efficiency”, SUNRI built or installed PV power generation units, wind turbines, power storage management systems, charging piles and smart street lamps. SUNRI applied multiple zero-carbon power supply means such as PV power generation, wind power generation and electrochemical energy storage, to ensure efficient and green operation. In addition, integrated smart energy management system was applied to realize smart management and control. SUNRI successfully built the comprehensive smart energy demonstration project in Anhui.


Seize Opportunities of Energy Storage Business and Gain the Upper Hand in the Market


During the R&D of CYG SUNRI PRS-3000 energy storage monitoring and energy management system, Mr. Hou and his R&D team always highlighted rapid adjustment of electrochemical energy storage, and promoted the response performance of the company's energy storage monitoring and energy management system to reach the highest level in the industry. In the tests conducted by authoritative institutions, SUNRI's products were the first to pass both function and safety tests, and came out among the best. In the field of energy storage at power grid side, PRS-3000 energy storage monitoring and energy management system has been successfully applied to energy storage power stations such as Changwang Power Station in Zhenjiang, Furong Power Station in Changsha, Hunan, Guantang Power Station in Huai'an, Jiangsu, Leyu Power Station in Suzhou, Jiangsu. The system enables peak shaving and valley filling, peak-load and voltage regulation, and provides strong support for the construction of large-scale interactive systems integrating power supply, power grids, load and energy storage. Changwang Power Station is the first to complete the network-connected test in the energy storage demonstration project of Zhenjiang east power grid. With remarkable regulation indexes, the power station was highly recognized by customers and leaders.


The prospect is promising, and innovation will not stop. For GW-level energy storage EMSs, Mr. Hou applied fast power control technology in R&D, and adopted the mode of energy storage coordinated controllers + EMS two-level control to realize fast power control of hundreds of PCSs in GW-level energy storage power stations, meeting the requirements of primary frequency modulation and dynamic voltage regulation. In November 2020, CYG SUNRI successfully won the bid for the experimental verification platform project of 100 MW multi-power supply integration (energy storage + microgrids) technology, which once again proved CYG SUNRI's leading position in the field of energy storage.

"People should be diligent. There's no gain without pain." In his career of 20 years, Mr. Hou has been exploring, judging the situation and tackling difficulties in the energy industry. He keeps pushing forward despite repeated frustrations, showing his strong sense of responsibility and broad outlook as a leader of a national high-tech enterprise. He always inspires young generations with his own practical actions. With the mission of “promoting safer and easier use of energy", he devotes himself to the development of China’s energy industry, and makes contribution to creating a better future for people.
