[BAPV on a Building with the Height of 145m] The BAPV Project of Kerry Business Center in Qianhai, Shenzhen Is Put into Operation

On September 28, 2019, the distributed BAPV power generation project of Kerry Business Center in Qianhai, an EPC project implemented by CYG SUNRI, was successfully connected to the grid for power generation. It is new driving force for the development of Green New City in Qianhai.


About the Project


The distributed PV systems of the distributed BAPV power generation project in Qianhai Kerry Business Center are on the roofs of 1# office building (about 144.25m high) and 2# office building (about 143.75m high) of the Qianhai Kerry Center, which is on the south side of Qianwan No.1 Road, Qianhai Free Trade Zone, Nanshan District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. The layout of PV systems on the building roofs is shown in the following figure:



The distributed BAPV system includes 2 subsystems on the roofs of 1# and 2# office buildings, with a total design capacity of 159.5 kWp. Although the capacity is small, the project has important demonstration effect.

Engineering Scheme of the Project


The construction of this project mainly includes: installation of solar panel stands, installation of solar cell module equipment, installation of string inverters, laying of power cables and optical cables, monitoring system installation, commissioning and testing, etc.


Utilization of the PV power generation system: The system is connected to the grid at the 400V low-voltage side, and the generated power is mainly supply to users in the buildings, and the surplus power is distributed to other buildings in center.



Significance of the Project


Green and Low-carbon Sustainable Model


Kerry Business Center is the first commercial plot transferred after the establishment of the Qianhai & Shekou Area of Shenzhen in China (Guangdong) Pilot FTZ was approved, the first major investment project of Hong Kong large enterprises in Qianhai, and the first pilot investment project of "Hong Kong Construction Mode" in Qianhai. The construction and development of the Kerry Business Center Project is for promoting the gathering of characteristic space of international financial industry, creating diversified, wonderful and orderly urban public space, highlighting the international image as a landmark in the region, building efficient transportation and advanced municipal administration, and promoting the sustainable development mode of low-carbon ecology. The distributed PV project will facilitate green building certifications (such as LEED certification) of Kerry Business Center.


The project is the first distributed PV project built in cooperation mode in Qianhai. It has good demonstrative effect for promoting distributed energy in Qianhai and building low-carbon Qianhai.


Help Qianhai Power Grid to Develop Integrated Energy Services


According to the Planning of Comprehensive Energy, Transmission Networks and Intelligent Distribution Networks of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone in Qianhai, Shenzhen, Shenzhen plans to build Qianhai Power Grid as an intelligent modern urban power grid. On the basis of reliable and flexible transmission and distribution networks and with the support by intelligent and information-based technical means, Shenzhen takes expansion of integrated energy supply business and intelligent electricity services into full consideration to achieve the goal of building Qianhai Power Grid into “an outstanding international leading integrated energy service provider", and an integrated energy service platform serving Qianhai's economic and social development. In view of the positioning and natural conditions of Qianhai, distributed PV will become an important trend of integrated energy development in Qianhai.


Lay a Solid Foundation for the Intelligent Microgrid Project in Qianhai


As an important part of the intelligent microgrid, PV system construction is the foundation of intelligent microgrid system construction. Distributed PV projects can associate users with distributed power. If energy storage and microgrid control equipment are installed later, it is feasible to upgrade distributed PV systems to intelligent microgrid systems. This project has promoted the implementation of intelligent microgrids in Qianhai to a certain extent, and laid a solid foundation for the later construction of intelligent microgrids.
