CYG SUNRI 5MW/10MWh Energy Storage System Contributes to the Successful Grid-connected Operation and Power Generation of the Tianhui 49MW Fishery-solar Hybrid PV Project in Dongying, Shandong

On December 31, 2020, CYG SUNRI 5MW/10MWh energy storage system contributed to the successful grid-connected operation and power generation of the Tianhui 49MW fishery-solar hybrid PV project in Dongying, Shandong. This project integrates fishery and PV power generation, and brings social, economic and environmental benefits.



The project is located in Kenli District, Dongying City, Shandong Province. The project site is ideal for PV power generation due to its flat and open terrain, abundant sunlight and convenient transportation. The total installed capacity of the project is 49MW. After completion, the annual power generation will reach 66 million kWh, and the annual coal consumption will be reduced by 26,500 tons. CYG SUNRI’s 5MW/10MWh energy storage system in a prefabricated cabin was connected to the 35kV busbar via eight PRS-7563 630kW power conversion systems and the integrated booster cabin, and each power conversion system was connected to energy storage batteries of 1.25 MWh. The energy storage monitoring system consists of CYG SUNRI PRS-3000 energy management system (EMS) and PRS-3201B energy storage coordinated controller. The 5MW/10MWh energy storage system in a prefabricated cabin is characterized by the PCS coordinated and unified control architecture and the mode of "centralized monitoring + PCS coordinated control”. It has the functions of rapid and coordinated power control of all PCSs in the power station, primary frequency modulation, AGC tracking, AVC control and power generation smoothing, and it is incorporated into the unified dispatching of Shandong power grid.



Relying on strong R&D strength, CYG SUNRI’s R&D technicians developed an improved virtual impedance droop control algorithm, thus realized the parallel operation of multiple PCSs in voltage source mode without communication, and each PCS had equal power. In addition, according to scheduling instructions of the energy storage coordinated controller, logic instructions for communication among the PCSs and the operating states of the PCSs, operating states of the PCSs can be switched to ensure the stable and orderly operation of the parallel PCSs.


CYG SUNRI PRS-3000 energy management system (EMS) is an integrated automation system with functions such as microcomputer protection and automation, data acquisition control and misoperation-preventive locking, intelligent equipment information integration, telecontrol communication, protection information management, local monitoring, AGC and AVC. Designed based on advanced network communication technology, the system has an open, hierarchical and distributed structure. It can conveniently monitor and control the operation of various equipment in the energy storage system. Moreover, it can analyze and evaluate the health status of batteries by artificial intelligence based on deep belief network and Elman neural network. The system contributes to the safe and economical operation of the 49MW fishery-solar hybrid PV system and the energy storage system in Dongying, Shandong Province.


This is CYG SUNRI’s general contracting project of large-scale energy storage equipment. The project team was under great pressure to put the project into operation within a very tight schedule. The on-site commissioning technicians spared no pains. They lived and had meals at the project site together with the on-site construction team. They worked continuously for 10 days, and did not stop commissioning regardless of the heavy snow and the subzero outdoor temperature. Finally, the project passed the on-site acceptance inspection, and the grid connection of the PV power station with competitive pricing was successful. The successful implementation of the project once again proves the comprehensive strength of CYG SUNRI!
